课程简介

Botany is a basic biological science that studies the morphological structure and organogenesis of plants during the ontogeny, and explores the evolution of major taxa in plant kingdom, as well as the classification of angiosperm.

As a compulsory course for biology and plant production science major, the teaching objective of botany is to enable students to grasp almost all the aspects of plant biology, including the morphological characteristics and physiological functions of plant cells and tissues, the morphological structure and development of plant vegetative organs, such as roots, stems, and leaves, and reproductive organs including flowers, fruits and seeds. Additionally, this course is to impart knowledge of the basic theory and method of angiosperm classification and common plant recognition. This course will help students to understand that the morphological structure of plants is shaped by the environment and adapted to its functions, help students to understand the role of plants in nature and human life, and lay a solid foundation for the study of other courses in plant science.

For the students majoring in liberal arts, Botany can be used as a general course to help them understand plant diversity and other related knowledge, so that students can be aware of the significance of environmental protection and sustainable development.
